A ristorante is a formal up-scale restaurant, with elaborate menus, extensive selection of wines, expensive decor, uniformed waiters and high prices. In the larger Italian cities, many restaurants have what they refer to a menu turistico (tourist's menu) or menu del giorno (menu of the day). This set-price menu typically covers the cost of a three course meal, wine, cover charge, and a 15% service charge. Many of these set-price menus are good bargains.
